Serena Williams is a role model in every way possible. She is a successful athlete, a wise businesswoman, and a loving and caring mother/wife. One can learn so much from the 23 times Grand Slam champion’s journey and her current style of handling her varied ventures. As she has the kind of balance in life that many desire.
Speaking of balance, even though both Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams are knee-deep in the investment market, they never indulge in each other’s work. The couple has a policy that fits their nature really well. Here are the details of the same.
Serena Williams about not bringing work back home
On Thursday, Serena attended the TechCrunch Disrupt to share her experience with and give advice to newcomers. There, while addressing a packed auditorium, she revealed how she and Ohanian keep their business matters out of their marriage. Regardless of being among the best in the field, they “stay in their own lanes.”
“We are both so competitive,” Williams said. “I’m internally so competitive. You can’t read my face if inside I’m screaming and dying. We don’t want that, so we keep it very separate.”
Further, the former World no.1 also opened up about an investment opportunity that she, to this day, regrets. In the early days of her investment career, because Williams “just didn’t have the infrastructure or the time,” she had to turn down an offer. Though she refused to name the startup, she disclosed that it was “before people were doing rideshares.”
While Williams is in charge of the firm Serena Ventures, Ohanian, the former co-founder of Reddit, runs Seven Seven Six. Both organizations believe in empowering futuristic ideas.
Noteworthy investments of Williams.
Serena Williams recently hung her racket and walked into the second phase of her career. The seven-time Wimbledon champion now will aim to divert her energy toward expanding her firm’s reach. However, as Serena Ventures has been in the industry for quite some time, it already has some big names working in collaboration.
Starting with MasterClass, the streaming platform provides its members access to over 150 instructors and classes across fields. Then she has the small home gym provider, Tonal’s partnership. The organization is becoming more popular with each passing year. Further, Impossible Foods, Noom, and Esusu are also performing well in their respective sectors.
